Open the SASSA Official Website
Open the official SASSA reinstate web page given below;
Enter Your ID Number and Phone Number
As per the mandatory requirement, you have to enter your South African ID number and mobile number on this page.
Click on the tab “Send PIN”
After entering your credentials and rechecking them, click the button “Send PIN”.
Verify the “OTP”
SASSA will send a One Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Put this OTP in the tab of the opened bar on the website and click the “Verify” button.
Provide the Reason of Cancellation
After the verification of “OTP”, you will be directed to a new page. On this page, you have to choose the reason of cancellation of your grant previously. Following three options are given and you have to click on any one of them.
Confirm Your Reinstatement Request
When you choose a suitable reason for cancellation, a pop-up will appear stating “Are you sure to reinstate the grant?”. Click “Yes” to reinstate your grant request.
Method: 2- Reinstate By Visiting SASSA Office
Many people consider it more helpful to follow the grant process manually at the SASSA office. If you are one of them, then the below guide is for you. It will help you reinstate the cancelled SASSA grant at the physical locations of SASSA.
Locate Nearest SASSA Office and Note Office Timing
Go to Google and type “SASSA office near me” and turn on the location of your device. It will provide you with all the locations of the SASSA office near you. Select the one nearest to you and note down their office timing.
Collect All The Required Documents
Gather all the documents before leaving for the SASSA office. These include;
1. South African ID Card

At the office, the officials of SASSA will ask for the reason for your visit. Inform them that you are there to reinstate your cancelled SRD R350 grant. Time Required to Reinstate Cancelled SRD Grant by SASSA
The usual time period of review of your reinstatement request is 7 to 14 days. However, compensating a pool of people, SASSA may take up to 90 days to finalise your request.
After review, SASSA will notify you through an SMS. If your request is approved, you will start receiving your grant from the date you have applied for reinstatement.
If your request is rejected, SASSA will send the reason for rejection of your reinstatement request.
