Reinstate Cancelled SASSA Grant – An Easy Step-by-Step Guide

There are two methods of reinstating the SASSA SRD R370 grant.

Applying online is one easy and simple process to reinstate the cancelled grant. One of my favourites too. Collect and make ready the required documents including your South African ID card and mobile number you had provided the first time you applied for the grant.

Follow the below steps in the given order to reinstate the cancelled SRD R350 grant.

Open the official SASSA reinstate web page given below;

As per the mandatory requirement, you have to enter your South African ID number and mobile number on this page.

After entering your credentials and rechecking them, click the button “Send PIN”.

SASSA will send a One Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Put this OTP in the tab of the opened bar on the website and click the “Verify” button.

After the verification of “OTP”, you will be directed to a new page. On this page, you have to choose the reason of cancellation of your grant previously. Following three options are given and you have to click on any one of them.

When you choose a suitable reason for cancellation, a pop-up will appear stating “Are you sure to reinstate the grant?”. Click “Yes” to reinstate your grant request.

Many people consider it more helpful to follow the grant process manually at the SASSA office. If you are one of them, then the below guide is for you. It will help you reinstate the cancelled SASSA grant at the physical locations of SASSA.

Go to Google and type “SASSA office near me” and turn on the location of your device. It will provide you with all the locations of the SASSA office near you. Select the one nearest to you and note down their office timing.

Gather all the documents before leaving for the SASSA office. These include;

1. South African ID Card

2. Residential proof (Utility Bill or any other document with your present address on it)

3. Bank Statement (If you have it.)

4. Other documents (if you have ) proving your financial status.

Identity Verification and Request Submission

At the office, the officials of SASSA will ask for the reason for your visit. Inform them that you are there to reinstate your cancelled SRD R350 grant. They will demand ID card and all the supporting documents. Once your identity verification is done, they will proceed with your request submission. The usual time period of review of your reinstatement request is 7 to 14 days. However, compensating a pool of people, SASSA may take up to 90 days to finalise your request.

If your request is rejected, SASSA will send the reason for rejection of your reinstatement request.
